Wisonsin Death Trip
04:05
|
|||
The year is 1891,
no work caused August to shoot himself in the head,
at home with his wife and kids.
It’s said they smiled at what he did.
Mrs. Fredericks, 83 years old
they found expired from the cold.
Ann Moore tried to be a man,
for the past fifteen years.
Mrs. Olsen, of Hinkley, wanders ‘round
she thinks all her children lost.
Nels Petersen died in his home in the Ward.
Miss Watson of Black River Falls gave birth
to a fatherless child,
then killed it.

Roman Empire Song
03:29
|
|||
I need a room
bigger than this
to play with my machine.
‘Till the dawn’s early light,
‘till I’m out of steam.
And we all sing a Roman Empire song until we grow up.
And we all sing a Roman Empire Song, an Empire Song.
On the Isle of Discontent,
we’re all in the queue.
Only when we pretend,
are we real and true.
And we all sing a Roman Empire song until we grow up.
And we all sing a Roman Empire Song, an Empire Song.
Our table’s full but still we cry for some rearrangement.
Stop all the clocks.
Stop staring in to where we’ve been.
We’re wearing out.
And we all sing a Roman Empire song until we grow up.
And we all sing a Roman Empire Song, an Empire Song.

Diesel Bells
03:09
|
|||
Me and my friends,
are cheap motels,
beside the din,
of diesel bells.
The sound they make,
can orchestrate,
the mood I’m in,
dissolve the ache.
And we are all living after the fall.
And we are all living after the fall.
Mine is the mess,
of truth confessed.
Yours is the myth,
of carnivals,
as they leave town,
like painted birds.
And we are all living after the fall.
And we are all living after the fall.

Shine
03:18
|
|||
Poems Vladimir did write
never passed by Olga’s eye
filled with good intentions
bound by all of Earth’s conventions
It was your godly entity
who strapped the belt chastity
around our heathen Mother
Nature is a slut and bugger
Upward Captain, Oh my captain
Hymn of the Anemic Swans
oh bless the Holy Rome Contraption
who crushed our lust for no good reason
When the tide goes out we find
a rusted, rotted Valentine
the Ocean said ‘I gave you
everything you need to make it Shine.’
Poems Vladimir did write
never passed by Olga’s eye
filled with best intentions
bound by all of Earth’s conventions
Upward Captain, Oh my captain
Hymn of the Anemic Swans
Oh bless the Grand Inquisitor
for making my lover a whore
Oh strange to think poor child of sin
it was the dead that groaned within
for now we’ll choose our makers
of our sweet here-afters
of our pine containers
in to which we’ll lay our skeletons
and make it Shine
and make it Shine
and make it Shine

Carousel
04:04
|
|||
It was yours and it was mine,
that bottle of valentine.
When we reached the other shore,
the rolling waves became a bore.
I wante you to take me down-
and we’d carousel this town.
But you’re a highway that’s in love
with the headlights above.
So I’ll build myself a home
by the tree of pheromones.
And I’ll watch you from afar-
hang your words upon a star.
I wanted you to take me down-
and we’d carousel this town.
But you’re a highway that’s in love
with the headlights above.
Was it you said love’s a train
traveling through the lonely plains?
I fell down in this two-step dance
and I just can’t seem to get up.
I wanted you to take me down,
and we’d carousel this town.
But you’re a highway that’s in love
with the headlights above.

All Roads Lead To Rome
03:10
|
|||
The camera’s on the shelf again-
all roads lead to Rome
We’re not like all those sidewalk men-
all roads lead to Rome
in vein or with a cheap syringe-
all roads lead to Rome
find out where I’ve always been-
all roads lead to Rome.
Special interest representing Everyman!
‘Congregation, only I know the season has turned…’
Oh Dear Locust, do not grieve-
all roads lead to Rome.
In intermittent frequencies-
all roads lead to Rome.
You’ve been chosen for a special reason
All in favor, merely raise your right hand
for me
for me
for me
and say ‘Aye’

Ice Age
04:13
|
|||
Silas walks into the entrance
he wonders how he’ll make it through
and we’re all standing by the exit
flicker of a smile will be the cue.
Take it all out of place
Make it up as we go along
and there is no one in charge here
and there is no one to blame.
Hypocrite shoes hit the pavement,
they trample on night and day
Silas skeletoned in darkness
beneath his skull there sings a choir
but will he make it through the ice age
shoveling coal into a fire?
Take it all out of place
Make it up as we go along
and there is no one in charge here
and there is no one to blame.

Only When We Laugh
04:02
|
|||
Curse my wandering eye,
or bless your heart, I suppose.
Our days just walk away
in search of finer clothes.
We know that it hurts
only when we laugh.
We know that it hurts
only when we laugh.
Tied down to the tracks,
searchlights tremble and moan.
I want you to relax,
take comfort in the unknown.
We know that it hurts
only when we laugh.
We know that it hurts
only when we laugh.
Thing have been dull around here without you.
Caught in an endless smile,
the needle, the damage done,
the courtroom, the curious trial;
two lives where there once was one.
We know that it hurts
only when we laugh.
We know that it hurts
only when we laugh.
Thing have been dull around here without you.

Dragonfly
03:02
|
|||
Holding my hands above my head,
running through the lawn.
Shimmer summer,
golden hair,
I was five years old.
Putting all my precious things underneath my shirt,
trying to collect the pretty rocks,
put them in my can.
Being caught in the haze of a southern sky,
being totally amazed by a dragonfly.
So I followed it on down to the riverside,
where I heard it hit the ground and I watched it die.
And I didn’t think that I would ever be the same,
but the morning after was time enough.
I couldn’t meet her gaze as she said that I,
can’t stay in just one place,
I keep flying by.
And I heard myself say,
as she said goodbye,
you’ll come crashing down to earth
like the dragonfly.
And I didn’t think that I would ever be the same,
but the morning after was time enough.

Dept Store
03:38
|
|||
The message read ‘If the fire is out, what do we do with the ashes?’
a worn-out phrase in a room that’s full of every stupid passage.
I tried to think of a word I’ve said that’s ever been worth saying,
instead I get a parking lot where everyone’s parading-
Will she be there when I march in?
Will she be there when I march in?
I drunken star on the avenue that can’t recall the faces
a telephone directory with nothing on the pages
The taste is gone,
the fear is gone,
the others leave today.
Her breathe is gone,
her face is gone,
the miscellaneous will fade away.
Call came in in the afternoon, she had gone to Memphis.
Like a story that will end too soon and leaves you dumb and senseless.
I try to think of a word she said that’s ever been worth hearing
instead I get a dept store with nothing there worth stealing.
The taste is gone,
the fear is gone,
the others leave today.
Her breathe is gone,
her face is gone,
the miscellaneous will fade away.

Kilowatt Hour
03:31
|
|||
The smoke machine and the microphone descending
the pissed MC and the ticket taker’s grin
Walk in like a half-breed superhero
painted, sweaty entourage of men.
Opera for the dim and hard of thinking
Marti Gras meets the Charles Atlas plan
Karoake conflict of Samsons
Get out while they beat the concession man.
We are there now
We are there now
This is the bone-crushing fabled war
it’s the same as the night before
A cheap parade gorilla men
the five minute calculated tragedy begins
New ones learn to appreciate the acting
old ones wish for the grand asylum times
Me, I think it’s nice work if you can get it
Kaufman saw the whole thing as sublime
We are there now
We are there now
This is the bone-crushing fabled war
it’s the same as the night before
A cheap parade of gorilla men
the five minute calculated tragedy
It’s a bone-crushing fabled war
A held-breath, hand-held kilowatt hour
this is a homoerotic dance
last rites for the Adonis, captain comic man
